[Spread The Love] Kana Interview With Bvdub

Something that I don’t seem to do a lot of this blog is sharing other bloggers hard work. I’m not sure why I haven’t done this, it’s probably because pretty much all my spare time is spent working on this blog in same form or the other. I kind of feel like a lone ranger in the blogging world, I don’t know of many blogs like mine (ones that specialize in dub techno & deep house, and that are updated regularly).

So in an effort to expand this community and hopefully discover some new like-minded bloggers I have decided to start a new feature called ‘Spread The Love’.

Whenever you see the ‘Spread The Love’ prefix on a blog post it means you are reading content from another blog that I feel deserves to be shared.

The first post I want to share with you all is a very inciteful interview Kana conducted with none other than Bvdub.

Read the interviewThis is a 'Spread The Love' post so you will go to another blog now to check out the content. I hope you enjoy, and remember...sharing is caring 🙂

[Preview] Bvdub – All Is Forgiven LP

Brock has certainly been busy in 2012, my favourite track from him this year has to be Make It To Tomorrow, and it’s nice to hear bvdub is following on from this style with what sounds to be another great album to finish off the year on! This is going to be very interesting as the album only consists of 3 tracks (can you call it an album??) but stretches over an hour in playtime!

This will be available in CD & Digital formats

From listening to the previews ‘Today he felt life’ is the track that really stands out for me….WOW!

‘All Is Forgiven’ is the latest album from Brock Van Wey’s emotionally induced bvdub project. Van Wey is probably one of, if not the most, prolific artists operating in what we would classify as contemporary deep electronic music. Such output can often dilute the quality of an artists’ work but Van Wey has always has an adeptness in the quality and timing of his output. Such a high level of quality at such a steady rate makes us think of him as truly being ‘at one’ with the music he creates. An intangible “heart to hands” style of creation that makes Van Wey a perfect fit within n5MD’s roster of emotive artisans.

While ‘All Is Forgiven’ boasts only 3 ‘tracks’ it has a run time of over 75 minutes and features bvdub’s signature gauzy layers of enveloping sound and ever ghostly yet soulful vocals where songs are a journey, sometimes via a rewarding path less explored. On previous outings Van Wey has experimented with the arching bvdub aesthetic and the same is true with All Is Forgiven. This time out he’s added some nicely executed experimental beat-work to propel his ever-blurring emotive ambience forward. ‘All Is Forgiven’ is in a word; Intoxicating.

[Preview] Earth House Hold – When Love Lived LP (Love’s Label 02)

While I almost ALWAYS love every track bvdub puts out, he does put out an awful lot (I think 6-7 albums in 2011!) of the same stuff.  Each track in their own right is very good but hearing them same style (and I’m talking about his ambient style) over and over again throughout the year does start to wear thin.

Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised when hearing the preview of his forthcoming album on Love’s Label, due out Mid 2012 (it was originally slated for March/April but has been delayed since).  Incorporating a few more housey, uptempo beats really gives bvdub’s tracks a breathe of fresh air, I feel like I could actually dance to some of these tracks instead of the typical ambientesque staring-out-of-the-window-pose we all adopt when listening to the beatless soundscapes.

Brock van Wey returns to the EARTH HOUSE HOLD guise for Love’s Label with this full-length album of deeply affecting house music.

Available in limited quantities on 2 x 12″ and CD in Mid 2012.
