Royer – Documented (MÖRK012)

With a skillet of brooding, deep & melodic releases in his wake for the Lobster main label, Moomin’s Closer imprint and an exceptionally beautiful self-released tape, Royer returns to the Lobster family with a clutch of super deep, dusty, planes-of-light-through-the-curtain house music that channel a nostalgic optimism into it’s brooding & humming elemental core.

From the fading melancholy memories of clqsse22 (simple version) and it’s more bubbling & swaggering ‘sunday lit reffaaax’ counterpart, to the sunlight rays cutting and refracting from the facets of d’orr22. Each track finds it’s own slot on the spectrum of deep, warm house music.

Closer healyrslfw_lee nods to the more beat-oriented Royer works, heavy sampling a playful short piano loop and cutting in spoken word segments. As a rare Lobster digi extra we also get ‘day of’. All stripped back grooves and stodgy MPC percussion lounging around a cloud of early morning haze.

Nadja Lind – Tribe Dub EP

Lucidflow make a ninth journey onto wax with label co-owner Nadja Lind’s ‘Tribe Dub’, and no punches have been pulled with the array of top drawer remixers on board – featuring Brendon Moeller, Tigerskin & Jack Jenson, and Terry Lee Brown Jnr. Nadja’s original fires on all cylinders with a frantic sub-bass assault that isn’t going to be happy unless your lungs have been thoroughly bruised by a main room’s speaker stack. As the bass tumbles, phasing dub stabs gracefully arc into the stratosphere and back again.

Production veteran Brendon Moeller steps up first on the mix with an interpretation that plays on the dancing dub elements of the original. A bare percussive anchor runs through the track allowing the rest of the elements to waltz around it in a shimmying and synchronised display.

Usually present under the Dub Taylor guise, Tigerskin adopts his main identity in tandem with Jack Jenson to bring a bit of dreaminess to the dance floor thunder of the original. Here, the elements are whispered, like the hush of walking out on a first light and frost covered morning. As the frozen pads thaw out, you emerge from the countryside into the hustle and bustle of the city, with apt field samples layering over the subtle and insistent groove.

Plastic City head honcho Terry Lee Brown Jnr is given the task of tackling Nadja’s stellar ‘Ignore And Block’. Like Tigerskin & Jack Jenson before it, the theme here is frozen melodies over precisely deployed percussion. Anyone familiar with his work will immediately find them at home in the deep-but-tech groove laid out over the track.

Coming out in 2017, the release will surface on smouldering orange marbled vinyl.

Aquarium – Luxury Water Jewels (Silver Lake 001)

After a long wait and heaps of hard work we are happy to finally announce the launch of our new sub label, Silver Lake. The label will provide a platform for music on a more ambient and leftfield tip with each release pressed up onto limited runs of 10” wax.

The inaugural EP comes from incredible Tokyo based talent, Aquarium. Having released an eye catching debut 12”on Manchester label Natural Sciences last year, Aquarium recently followed up with an equally impressive tape release on London based platform Coastal Haze. Next up is a stunning excursion into textural ambience via X-Kalay’s new offshoot, Silver Lake.

The EP is a daydream infused memory of summer, so says Akira…
